Walt: write explanations

In Room 15 we have been writing explanations. We got to design a robot and explain how it works.....Here is some of our examples!!

How my robot works

My robots name is called Rainbow Robot and she is a girl. She makes my life easier. She mostly does everything. I am going to tell you about my robot. First my robot helps me do my homework. She tests me on my basic facts and listens to me read and writes in my books. My robot can also do my chores, for example cleaning my room and making my bed. Lastly she buys me toys and other presents.

How my robot works

My robot is Rainbow Sprinkles, she is a girl. She is my best friend and she has special rainbow powers. She is a very good helper. She helps me clean up. I am going to explain how she works.

My robot helps me do my homework because she does my basic facts and reads my books them puts them into my reading log. She can also make me my breakfast and makes my lunch, then gets my bag ready. My robot has very special powers because when she's happy Rainbow Sprinkles come out of her ears. When she moves rainbow sprinkles come out of her wheels.

My favourite thing about my robot is her name and her colours. Whats your favourite thing about your robot?

Self-Editing and using Success Criteria

In Room 15 we have been focussing on self-editing. This means we have been resourceful learners by using editing cards, alphabet word cards and editing pencils to check our work. We also have success criteria glued into our writing books (like a check list) to help us remember what we need to check off in our writing. Have we re-read our writing 3 times (does it make sense?), have we checked for capital letters, full stops and correct spelling of words.
