Self-Editing and using Success Criteria

In Room 15 we have been focussing on self-editing. This means we have been resourceful learners by using editing cards, alphabet word cards and editing pencils to check our work. We also have success criteria glued into our writing books (like a check list) to help us remember what we need to check off in our writing. Have we re-read our writing 3 times (does it make sense?), have we checked for capital letters, full stops and correct spelling of words.

The Beach

I see the golden sparkly sand going through my hand
I hear people talking together by the beautiful sand
I smell dead rotten fish
I feel very hairy dogs at the beach
I taste fish and salty chips.

I hear the yellow and pink crabs snapping at each other

Recount writing - Swimming

Recount writing shared from Room 15
DSCF2554.JPG

On Monday, Thursday and Friday we go swimming in the Clevedon School Pool. We change into our togs in the class. Then we walk altogether to the pool. Sometimes people don’t bring their togs. When we get in we twist half way, then we put our feet in. Then we hold the bar and we kick and blow bubbles in the water.  Written by Stevie Selby Room 15

On Monday, Thursday and Friday we go swimming in the Clevedon School pool. We play and swim, we do freestyle, backstroke and breastroke. We swim widths and lengths sometimes, but mostly widths. I play tag when I am in the pool. I can do three strokes and then take a breath, this is when I am swimming freestyle. I don’t need goggles for the pool because I can swim with my eyes open under the water. I am really good at all these strokes. I can also swim really fast.

Sharing our Information Reports on Natural Disasters - Term 3

Last term we wrote information reports on a chosen Natural Disaster. We visited Room 6 in the senior school to share our writing. Here are some photos of us sharing our booklets that we worked so hard on. Needless to say they were very impressed with our factual booklets, photographs and diagrams.
